Seth Godin on Pleasing Everyone

Seth Godin on Pleasing Everyone

Seth gets it right again – nice post called Pleasing.

Pleasing everyone with our work is impossible. It wastes the time of our best customers and annoys our staff. Forgive us for focusing on those we’re trying to delight.

Of course, we mean this in the nicest way possible!  And I’m not trying to be flippant.

Our bread-and-butter service is our IDX Listings Search Engine, which we’ve honed over 10 years to be as user-friendly and flexible as possible.

So many companies offer – and specialize in – websites.  We’re not trying to compete on all of the bells and whistles there.  We do, however, offer fully-functional WordPress websites for folks who like the power to create their own unique presence.

We’ll continue to focus on the things that we know we can do in order to delight our best customers – which is everyone that understands how our system benefits them.  And we’ll continue to try and help those that don’t yet ‘get it’ figure that out as well.

We think the most important thing you can have on your website is a good Listings Search Engine.  Joel Burslem over at 1000Watt Consulting says so, too, in a recent post about changes at Zillow.com:

“It’s all about location, right?” wonders Zillow’s blog post. Actually, in our experience, it’s not – it’s all about the properties. Location is secondary. The comments from Zillow users seem to echo this.

Good listings search experience is key.  Everything else is just window dressing.  So, we’ll keep making that our primary focus.  Thanks for understanding.
